Our Anti-abuse Policy

We hope that you and your companions enjoy visiting York Street and welcome you to a safe, respectful and professional veterinary clinic. There may be occasions where you witness unpleasant behaviour from visitors.

These are types of behaviour we consider might cause staff members, clients or visitors to feel intimidated, offended, bullied or harassed.

Types Of Abusive Behaviour

  • Threatening emails and telephone calls
  • Malicious allegations from clients or visitors
  • Any form of physical violence or threats of physical violence from clients or visitors
  • Derogatory racial, sexist, ageist, or homophobic remarks from clients or visitors
  • Comments relating to disability, perceived gender, religion, belief or any other protected characteristic from clients or visitors.

 

Our Policy

Abusive behaviour towards our staff, other clients or visitors is not tolerated.

Abusive Behaviour includes verbal abuse, physical threats, harassment, intimidation, and any form of discriminatory behaviour.

Verbal abuse means language that is foul, offensive, derogatory, or intended to demean or insult.

Physical threats means any threat of physical harm towards staff, clients or property.

Harassment means repeated, unwanted yelling, shouting or communicating in a way that intends to harass or intimidate.

Discriminatory behaviour means any behaviour that discriminates against individuals based on race, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.

Any client or visitor who is abusive:

  1. Will be asked to consider their behaviour and if it is not withdrawn will be asked to leave the premises immediately.
  2. Will have their relationship with the London Vet Clinic terminated following guidelines set by the Veterinary Defence Society.
  3. May be reported to the police.
