Our Testimonials

Our Jack Russell puppy, Louis, had been quite unwell which led us needing to take several visits to the vet, often in quite fraught circumstances. The London Vet Clinic were always able to accommodate us, even at short notice putting our minds more at ease. The whole team there from the vets, nurses and receptionists were amazing and showed genuine care and concern for Louis. We always felt more at ease when we were there and knew that Louis was receiving the best care possible. Even under quite unpleasant circumstances, Louis learnt to associate the vet as a happy and positive place and whenever we go there now is always excited to see everyone. We couldn’t have made it through this tricky period without them. We are so lucky to have access to such an amazing team of people!

My Pug Queenie has been seen by a number of the Vets at the London Vet clinic, all were brilliant, they thoroughly explained all of the procedures that my dog would be having. I’m a first-time pug owner and I have very much appreciated all their help. Queenie’s had her spay & Boas surgery here. Jo was fantastic, she did the Boas, which has been highly successful, Queenie’s been coping well with the extreme heat we have been having. Highly recommended!

It was an honour to meet Dr Fogle.

We send him and his wonderful staff our heartfelt thanks.

Chop is our English Bulldog and she is quite lazy, but she is always enthusiastic to come along to see everyone at The London Veterinary Medicine Clinic as they are all so kind and make anything she needs doing an easy task. The Clinic keeps us informed of all the things we need to do to keep our dog healthy and when, in the past, she has had medical procedures, talk us through the options best for her. Thank you for your help!

We were so lucky to have been given London Vetinary Clinic as a recommendation when our first dog was a puppy and since then we have never been disappointed with the care and attention to detail we have received from all the vets there. They have always given us the most upfront advice and options when it comes to big decisions with our dogs health. Never forced views or treatments but given us all the options. It feels like you’re walking in to a practise that is welcoming and caring, a real family feel whenever we have visited. They have always helped immensely and quickly when it comes to insurance claims and travel documents which can be baffling. Because we’ve had such positive experiences and care we have them Reccomended many friends too who are now also patients. We feel very lucky to have such great vets if and when we need them. Thank you all x

Well Jane and I have just left the vet today after bringing in our beautiful boy Bruno (a very naughty Jack Russell) Yet again we walked away saying how amazing these guys are at the London Vet Clinic. Generally Helen looks after our boy but everybody there is absolutely lovely. They all seem to be in the right job !! Caring, talented, sincere, friendly, knowledgeable and trustworthy. We are always happy to leave our wonderful dog there to be looked after.. actually last year he was really poorly with Gastroenteritis and they literally saved his life. Thank you all so much…Adam & Jane xx

Dr Bruce Fogle MBE DVM OV MRCVS
Founder

Dr Bruce Fogle, our founder is one of the world’s most respected voices in veterinary medicine. The London Vet Clinic is built on his legacy of compassion and innovation. With over 50 years of experience and more than 40 internationally acclaimed books translated into 35+ languages, Dr Fogle has shaped how millions of pet owners care for their companions. The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons awarded Bruce its highest honour, The Queen’s Medal. The late Queen appointed Bruce MBE for founding the charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Veterinary associations on three continents have given him honorary memberships for his contributions to a better understanding of our relationships with the animals we care for. Bruce is at York Street Monday through Wednesday.

Dr Stephen Warren BVSc OV MRCVS
Lead Senior Veterinary Surgeon

With 18 years of clinical proficiency and over half of those years here at the London Vet Clinic, highly experienced Dr Stephen Warren leads our General Practice team. Stephen has always had a special interest in ophthalmology which is why the clinic’s diagnostic equipment is of the highest level. We regularly ask Stephen for his advice in clinical matters but also in the often difficult choices between what we know is possible to do and what is in the best interest of our patients. Stephen is at the clinic four days each week and enjoys long weekend with his daughter Lily and his wife Melissa at their home on the Isle of Wight. Stephen is our lead OV (Official Veterinarian) and overseas complicated Export Health Certificates.

Dr Adam Rouan BSc BVM (with Distinction) OV MRCVS
Senior Veterinary Surgeon

American accents are common at the London Vet Clinic and Adam’s is from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania region. Before choosing veterinary medicine as his vocation, Adam completed a bachelor’s degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2015. After that he moved to London to study veterinary medicine at the Royal Veterinary College. He chose the UK because his mother was born here.

Before joining us, Adam worked in Hampstead at an out of hours emergency and critical care hospital for nearly three years. He intuitively understands the special relationship shared between humans and our pets and is joined at York Street where he provides general practice care four days each week by his dog buddy Bodie, who started life in Serbia and now shares our affections especially at lunchtime.

Dr Natalia Bewick DVM MRCVS, MSc (Animal Behaviour)
Senior Veterinary Surgeon
Veterinary Behaviourist

Dr Natalia Bewick is one of the very few vets in clinical practice with post graduate advanced training in clinical animal behaviour. Soon after graduating in veterinary medicine from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2015, Natalia completed her two year advanced training in clinical animal behaviour at the University of Lincoln, studying with the internationally respected Prof Danny Mills. Natalia combines two days of General Practice with two days of Clinical Animal Behaviour each week at York Street. Natalia also provides Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminars for both veterinary nurses and vets. She ensures that the London Vet Clinic is as user friendly as possible for visiting dogs and cats. (Her young son Pedro’s home is made just as warm for him too.)

Dr Grant Petrie MA VetMB CertSAC CertSAM MRCVS
Cardiologist
Internist
Oncologist

Dr Grant Petrie who oversees the second opinion services at the London Vet Clinic, has been at York Street since the 1990s and has advanced qualifications in both cardiology and internal medicine. A highly respected past President of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) Grant provides his problem-solving abilities on Mondays and Thursdays to pets with conditions involving the heart, hormones, liver, kidney and bowel function. Grant oversees all cancer treatments that we undertake. Grant frequently gives continuing education lectures to vets about advances in the treatments for diabetes in dogs and cats and is responsible for the clinic’s regular case reviews.

Dr David Williams MA VetMB CertVOphthal PhD CertWEL VetMD DipECAWBM(AWSEL) MEd FRCVS
Ophthalmologist

David has more letters after his name than anyone else at York Street! All of the vets are “members” of the RCVS (MRCVS) but David is a “fellow”, an FRCVS though his contributions to clinical teaching. More important, this affable academic, who runs Cambridge University vet school’s ophthalmology clinic, thinks the way we do about keeping interventions simple. He understands that less interference is often in our animal companions’ best interest. In that context it’s not surprising that David also runs an ethics course for Cambridge’s vet students. At York Street David has the advanced diagnostic facilities to carry out eye examinations and repairs ensuring that all the dogs and cats he sees are back in their own homes the same day. David has over 230 publications in veterinary ophthalmology and animal welfare!

Dr John Parker BVSc BSc DipECVN MRCVS
Neurologist

Dr John Parker has been a specialist in veterinary neurology since 2011. He was Head of Neurology at Hamilton Specialist Referrals until it was acquired by a corporate veterinary business. John says that many referral hospitals are “governed by corporate policies and politics. This is not for me. I am excited to be working with the London Veterinary Clinic at the new frontier of specialist veterinary medicine; bridging the gap between general practice and referral hospitals.”

Some vets feel uncomfortable working in businesses that have core values different to their own. If John feels that advanced diagnostic imaging is in your companion’s interest (and it may be in 3 out of 20 individuals) he works with his colleagues at The Ralph, a large independent veterinary referral hospital 50 minutes aware near Marlow.

Dr Erin Brennan MVB, MVetMed (Dermatology) MRCVS
Dermatologist

Dr Erin Brennan is our resident referral dermatologist and diagnoses complex skin and ear conditions that don’t or won’t go away, or that go away then come back. These conditions often involve allergy, immune-mediated disease or secondary infectious disease, and frequently cause itchiness. At the Royal Veterinary College Erin’s work focussed on complex cases involving autoimmune diseases and infectious conditions. At University College Dublin’s School of Veterinary Medicine Erin is their resident visiting dermatologist.

Erin’s 75 minute consultations at York Street are in the calm and quiet back consult room where her video microscope and other facilities are located. Her follow-up appointments last between 30 and 60 minutes. She works closely with the GP vets to develop personalised care plans to improve your companion’s skin health and well-being. Referral appointments can be made by telephoning us.

Dr Elise Robertson BVetMed(Hons), BS, DipABVP(Feline), FRCVS
Endoscopist, Feline Specialist

Elise Robertson has over 15 years of clinical experienced in advanced endoscopy. Another American-born member of the York Street team, Elise graduated with honours from Colorado State University in the 1990s before completing her veterinary training at the Royal Veterinary College. She has worked with Bruce Fogle for over 20 years.

Like David Williams, Elise is also an FRCVS, a “fellow” by meritorious contributions to clinical practice”. Her skills mean that, when needed, cats and dogs can have outpatient, minimally invasive procedures such as liver biopsies, rhinoscopies, otoendoscopies or laparoscopies here at York Street rather than at referral centres.

Elise is a Board Certified Diplomate in Feline Practice. She teaches, lectures and publishes on feline medicine, endoscopy and endosurgery and is at York Street on Thursdays.

Dr Martin Simonovski DVM MSc VetMed Pg Cert(VPS) Cert AVP MRCVS
Advanced surgeon

Dr Simonovski is a natural teacher and a quietly deft and skilled surgeon. After completing an internship in the USA Martin moved to the UK where he worked in busy clinics and hospitals in Essex and Surrey. He was Lead Surgeon for many years in a large veterinary corporate group, handling soft tissue and orthopaedic surgical referrals within the group. Martin has post-graduate certificates in Veterinary Professional Studies and Advanced Veterinary Practice from the University of Liverpool. We enjoy his visits to York Street because his advanced surgical skills mean that the dogs and cats that he cares for can return home the same day their conditions are surgically corrected.

Mr Peter Kertesz DDS (London), Hon Assoc RCVS
Dentist

Peter Kertesz, the only dental surgeon in the UK to be awarded  the position of Honorary Associate of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, has been attending to complicated oral and dental conditions in dogs and cats at York Street for over 40 years. Bruce introduced Peter to the challenges of veterinary dentistry in the 1970s. One result is that Peter wrote the first textbook on veterinary dentistry, A Colour Atlas of Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Diseases.

Peter continues to travel worldwide treating primates, small and large cats, elephants, killer whales even walruses with painful dental conditions. Peter is available on Fridays to see dogs and cats with challenging oral conditions. Needless to say, he never undertakes cosmetic dentistry in animals. He only treats dental conditions that cause either illness or pain.

Amanda Haynes RVN, CC, RAMA CAM/AVM

Clinic Manager

Amanda Haynes is York Street’s invaluable ‘mother hen’ with over 25 years’ experience in veterinary clinics. She progressed from being an RVN (Registered Veterinary Nurse), to Head RVN and Staff Assessor to Manager of an independent vet practice, and still found time to acquire a husband, numerous four legged companions and participate in animal charity fund raising events such as sky diving and wing walking. And zip off to Peru and walk the Inca Trail!
Before she joined the London Vet Clinic, Amanda worked for five years for corporate vet clinic companies. It’s our good fortune that Amanda chose to return to the independent clinic sector and provide her wealth of knowledge and experience to us. As well as a husband and a son Atlas, Amanda lives with three cats (Nero, Onyx and Mango), four tortoises (Toby, Victor, Albert and Nigel), a bearded dragon called Mushu, an Axolotl called Winston, and numerous fish.  The most common sentence we use with each other at York Street is “Ask Amanda.”.

Vicky Cross RVN BSc (Zoology) MSc (Clinical Animal Behaviour)

Registered Veterinary Nurse,
Clinical Animal Behaviourist

Vicky, who you meet as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) in Nurses Consults,- giving injections, cleaning ears, cutting overgrown nails – trained as a nurse in rural Scotland but possesses a fascinating range of additional unique skills and qualifications. If we set aside her enjoyment of free-diving or her skills as a seal trainer or even her BSc in Zoology, Vicky is also one of the very few RVNs with a Masters degree in Clinical Animal Behaviour. (We are sure that the London Vet Clinic is the only primary care clinic in the UK with two people, Vicky and Natalia, with MScs in Clinical Animal Behaviour.)

Vicky’s MSc was achieved at the University of Edinburgh. Her special interest is feline behaviour and Vicky sees all new kittens that come to York Street. Her other clinical interests include pain management and laboratory diagnostics. She is an Elite Fear Free Certified Vet Professional. Originally from Greece and with a background in human healthcare Vicky also has experience – you guessed it –  in surveying bat populations and  owl management!

Jessica Sproate RVN BSc (Hons) PgCertAVN (Anaesthesia & Analgesia)

Head Registered Veterinary Nurse

Most of you are familiar with Jessica, York Street’s Head Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) who has been here since 2018. But did you know that as well as being a BSc (Hons) Jess also has a Post Graduate Certificate from the University of London in Advanced Veterinary Nursing in Anaesthesia and Analgesia (PgCertAVN)?

To gain this advanced qualification, as well as her responsibilities here, Jess worked for 18 months with a team at the Queen Mother Hospital at the Royal Veterinary College getting hands-on experience with challenging anaesthesias.  She completed written assignments and exams. Jess applies her advanced skills at York Street during routine and higher-risk anaesthetias. Her rescue Jack Russell / Chihuahua Poppy, is our honorary sixth veterinary nurse.

Sophie Atkinson RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Like so many others who choose to become qualified veterinary nurses, Sophie’s career began elsewhere, in her specific circumstances in travel and marketing in her native Australia. The need for more fulfilling days brought Sophie to London, into the veterinary world and after completing her RVN (Registered Veterinary Nursing) qualification and gaining local experience working in north London, happily to us here at York Street. Sophie brings her fresh, positive, Australian attitude to caring for you and your pets. Her add-on love of baking means that the humans and canines at the London Vet Clinic are eager to see her each morning. (We have shared one of her Treats for Dogs recipes in our monthly newsletters

Angela Topping
G&G Cert SAC NVQ Level 2 Veterinary Nursing, Cert Veterinary Laboratory Diagnostics

Veterinary Nurse / Office Coordinator

When Angela, her husband Fraser and daughter Evie moved to Devon in 2023 we knew we had to find a way for her to continue to be part of the York Street team. Angela had worked at the clinic for almost 20 years sharing theatre prep and operation responsibilities with the other nurses. She knows in tiny detail not just how everything works but who everyone is.

Her home in Devon is isolated but with the help of a Starlink satellite dish Ang continues in real time to be part of the London Vet Clinic, speaking with you on the telephone, answering your emails and speaking with her colleagues in reception many times each day. Ang is no longer actively involved in field hockey but her naturally up-beat personality  continues to be a wonderful asset to the team.

Jenny Ward RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse / Office Coordinator

When you speak with Jenny on the telephone you may think she’s in her 20s but Jen has been part of the London Veterinary Clinic since the mid 1970’s. She was one of the first fully qualified RVNs, (Registered Veterinary Nurses). When she lived in Holland Park it was easy for her to get to York Street each day, bring her Italian Spinones with her.  Marriage and daughters followed, and her family moved to Hereford on the Welsh border but Jen continued to be part of the team, participated by telephone and post, completing admin work and insurance claims. She still does but with much better technology. Jenny is probably more knowledgeable about pet insurance than the insurers themselves. After almost 50 years with the London Vet Clinic Jen continues to help you with any questions you have.

Faith Bridges
Client Care Coordinator

Faith, a West Londoner and a bit of a football obsessive, has eight years of veterinary reception experience most of it at a colleague’s clinic in Ealing. Her extensive know how and familiarity with what goes on at vet clinics means  if she can’t answer your question she knows who within the clinic can. Until unexpected circumstances intervened Faith trained as a veterinary nurse so she also has excellent skills handling dogs and cats and dispensing medicines. When you meet Faith you may ask her if other people say that her hair reminds them of Rapunzel. If you do, welcome to the majority! Faith is here to help get you answers to your enquiries.

Serena Nembhard
Client Care Coordinator

Which comes first, our temperaments or our names? Serena’s approach to client care is certainly in sync with her name. Before joining us in Reception, Serena accumulated 9 years of patient care and customer service in the high-pressure environment of London’s NHS and private care hospitals. Most recently she was Patient Care Coordinator and then Patient Administrative Officer  at the Genesis Care -Cromwell Hospital in Kensington. We were able to snaffle Serena away from medical care quite simply because, as skilled as she is looking after concerned people, like the rest of us she’s a dog and cat enthusiast. Raised with Staffies her present boy cat Cloud welcomes her home each evening. As well as Client Care, Serena manages applications and data management for Animal Health Certificate.

Amy Oliver BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour
Client Care Coordinator

Amy, from beautiful Northumberland, has over 10 years of varied and extensive experience working with people and their pets. Before obtaining her honours degree in animal behaviour from the University of Chester, Amy worked at the Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter providing guidance to dogs, cats and their potential new owners. She has a personal interest in the well being of rescued and rehomed cats and dogs.

In the previous four years before she joined us Amy managed the excellent Bruce’s Doggy Daycare in north London where she was responsible for a large team and provided quality customer and pet care. Amy is here to help you with all your enquiries.
