All countries require a veterinarian to examine dogs and cat (and ferrets) before they visit and certify that their rabies vaccination is up to date. Some countries require proof that rabies vaccination has produced protection or ask for blood tests for certain infectious diseases, or treatment for parasites before travel. All commercial airlines ask you for proof that your pet is “Fit to Travel”.
Please remember that while Stephen, Adam, Paloma and Bruce are Official Veterinarians, and may legally sign and stamp official health documents, we are not pet travel brokers. Each country has its own import requirements and these often change. Airlines, ferries, train companies and other carriers have their own rules and regulations. We are here to help but it is your responsibility to contact the country you are travelling to, find out what that country’s import requirements are, then tell us what we can do for you.
For existing clients, please complete the appropriate questionnaire for travel to the EU, North America or the Rest of the World. Please use the surname we have in our records.
If you are NOT an existing client but would like us to arrange your pet’s travel documents, please register your pet first. We will get back to you to coordinate how we can help you.
Your dog or cat must be microchipped and its rabies inoculation valid for your both your outbound and return trips. We can provide you with the EU-required Animal Health Certificate (AHC) which must be issued within 10 days of your pet’s outbound journey. To apply for an AHC please click here. The fee is £232.00 for the first animal and £75.00 for each additional animal. A repeat AHC within 6 months to the same country is £98.00 and within 6 months to a different country is £116.00. The fee covers reviewing the documentation, seeking further clarification, applying for the AHC and completing it as well as your pet’s visit to us for its microchip and health check. If you need an AHC very urgently we can provide one, depending on the time scale there may be an additional charge.

Animal import regulations vary enormously from country to country and are always changing. Virtually all ask for a completed Export Health Certificate (EHC). For more information please click here.
The fee for an EHC is a minimum of £350.00 per pet. This covers reviewing the documentation, seeking further clarification, applying for the EHC and completing it, and your pet’s visit to us, microchip and health check. Please apply at least 10 days before travel. For applications less than 10 days before travel an urgency surcharge may apply.
To apply for an EHC please click here.
(If we did not vaccinate your pet against rabies we need information directly from your vet about the vaccine manufacturer, batch number and expiry date, date of vaccination and duration of immunity.)
PLEASE NOTE
Stephen Warren and Paloma Diaz OV’s, prepare all EHCs at the clinic. If for any reason we cannot prepare an EHC for you we will direct you to an OV who can.
