At the London Vet Clinic, our resident dogs are an important part of daily life in the clinic. Friendly and sociable, they help create a calm, welcoming atmosphere for visiting pets and their owners, often greeting clients and enjoying gentle play and interaction with each other throughout the day.
At home, the team’s cats enjoy a quieter life, providing companionship and comfort away from the clinic environment.
Otter
Minature Dachshund
A new addition to Amanda’s current menagerie, Otter is a 7-month-old miniature longhaired dachshund who loves commuting from Surrey by train to join her at work for playdates with Bodie and Pepa. At home, he enjoys spending time with his feline friends Mango and Onyx, Amanda’s two cats. In his spare time, he can often be found running around with his squeaky mouse and enjoying plenty of cuddles.
Willow
Australian Labradoodle
Willow is a three-year-old Australian Labradoodle owned by Angela. She loves nothing more than cuddles and playing with her many tennis balls.
She lives on a lovely farm in Devon, where she has plenty to keep her entertained. Willow shares her home with two cats, Spuddy and Lobster, and enjoys their company.
She also loves long walks on the beach and across the fields, where she can run, explore, and take in all the sights and smells of the countryside.
Most of you are familiar with Jessica, York Street’s Head Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) who has been here since 2018. But did you know that as well as being a BSc (Hons) Jess also has a Post Graduate Certificate from the University of London in Advanced Veterinary Nursing in Anaesthesia and Analgesia (PgCertAVN)?
To gain this advanced qualification, as well as her responsibilities here, Jess worked for 18 months with a team at the Queen Mother Hospital at the Royal Veterinary College getting hands-on experience with challenging anaesthesias. She completed written assignments and exams. Jess applies her advanced skills at York Street during routine and higher-risk anaesthetias. Her rescue Jack Russell / Chihuahua Poppy, is our honorary sixth veterinary nurse.
If you notice Katie offering extra cuddles to smaller, older four legged visitors that’s because she returns home each day to squeaky-toy lover Angel and Elsa who spends her indoor life taking slippers to sun spots and lazing beside them.
Growing up surrounded by animals is often a reason for gaining skills in their care. Katie’s family provided a home for guinea pigs and hamsters but also chickens and stick insects. (When you have a stick insect question ask Katie!) Before joining us as a Registered Veterinary Nurse Katie worked in charity and referral clinics but what she enjoys most is primary care nursing, especially anaesthesia and meeting you and your buddies in nurses clinics.
You may think that if you’re lucky enough to live in the Chilterns why come to London? The answers are simple. Close family are here and it takes less time to arrive at nearby Marylebone Station than it does to get here from other parts of London itself.
Reception at York Street faces south and Dolly adds ever more brightness to the area. Before joining us charming and bubbly Dolly accumulated over a decade of reception experience with the PDSA (People Dispensary for Sick Animals) and The Cinnamon Trust (a wonderful charity that helps keep ill and elderly people together with their pets as long as possible).
Dolly’s family home is filled with cats, dogs, bunnies and a gentle, inquisitive bearded dragon. (That’s a small reptile.) Like so many others at York Street, Dolly helps fund raise for good causes including a 26 mile walk for cancer research. Dolly is here to help with your queries. She encourages you to please drop by and say hello.
When Angela, her husband Fraser and daughter Evie moved to Devon in 2023 we knew we had to find a way for her to continue to be part of the York Street team. Angela had worked at the clinic for almost 20 years sharing theatre prep and operation responsibilities with the other nurses. She knows in tiny detail not just how everything works but who everyone is.
Her home in Devon is isolated but with the help of a Starlink satellite dish Ang continues in real time to be part of the London Vet Clinic, speaking with you on the telephone, answering your emails and speaking with her colleagues in reception many times each day. Ang is no longer actively involved in field hockey but her naturally up-beat personality continues to be a wonderful asset to the team.
