Hello. An AHC is valid for ten days from the day it is issued and is valid for four months. A new AHC is needed for each visit to the EU. Once you return to the UK with your pet the AHC becomes invalidated for any further travel purposes.
AHC’s are issued by the APHA (Animal Plant & Health Agency) which is part of DEFRA. All the GP vets at the London Vet Clinic are Official Veterinarians and can act on your behalf.
The information we need to complete an AHC is straight forward but collecting and collating it is time consuming. Please answer all the following questions. Complete one form for each dog or cat you are travelling with and send the forms to us. When we receive your completed documents we will contact you to arrange for payment, which is £232 (Inc VAT). Once payment is made we will review the information, get back to you if we need more information, apply to the APHA on your behalf, then within 10 days of your pet’s travel, see you and your companion, check the microchip is working and health is good and give you the completed paperwork. The registered owner named in the certificate MUST be present on the day that your companion is seen at the clinic.
Yes - We will find this information for you
No - If you have an ‘official’ rabies inoculation document such as your pet’s entry papers into the UK, or details in an expired EU pet passport please take pictures of the relevant pages (your details, your pet’s details, date of microchip and all rabies vaccine details and email these pages back to us at travel@londonvetclinic.co.uk.
If you don’t have an authenticated rabies vaccination document, we need your vet to give us vaccine information such as the name of the vaccine manufacturer, the batch number and expiry date, the date of vaccination and the duration of immunity.

(The Data Protection Act prohibits us from asking your vet for information about your pet without your consent. If you want us to do so on your behalf we need your consent and your vet’s contact details. There is a minimum administration fee of £90.
