Tug-Of-War Is Fun For Both Of You

  Back

It’s a myth that tug-of-war games turn innocent pups into adult thugs. The overwhelming majority of the dogs we see, pups or adults, love to play tug-of-war, just for fun, not as a means of developing skills in aggression. It’s a delightful interactive activity with you, or with another dog, it’s physically demanding and mentally stimulating. If you enjoy the game, play tug-of-war as a reward at the end of a training session but don’t let your dog win every time. Avoid tug-of-war only if your dog has a dominance-related aggression problem.
