Lungworms

  Back

Dogs are infected by eating slugs, snails or their slime containing infectious larva.

Eggs are found on stool analysis. Bronchoscopy may yield secretions containing lungworms. Tracheal washes sometimes reveal lungworm eggs. Lungworm is most prevalent in the Southwest but, although still uncommon, there are now confirmed cases in London. We use a variety of drugs to prevent or treat lungworm.
